From 14th to 24th June 2018, the Market Gaite backs among the most famous and important events that takes place in Umbria.
The purpose of the event is to recreate – with historical accuracy – the daily lives of inhabitants of Bevagna in the medieval period between 1250 and 1350. They rebuilt the old medieval workshops demonstrating the activities of the past, the streets and the entire population help to recreate the historical period reinventing the ancient crafts, and also games and food. The crafts that can be found in the ancient town of Bevagna during this period are: Mattonari, processing and production of hemp,the potter and blacksmith, processing wax, glass and parchment, minting coins and much more.
The Gaite name evokes the four districts in which was divided the country which derives from four churches of Bevagna. The event program is full of events every nights when taverns open their doors to offer the medieval dishes, reproposed for the occasion and every evening between the districts will take place challenges and races with contests, games like the competition of crafts, culinary and the race or archery.
The last day is declared the winner of the Palio.
